If you suffer from anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, agoraphobia, social anxiety, or any other of the seemingly hundreds of anxiety related issues many people face, you’ve probably wondered whether or not there is hope for you. Is it really possible to cure yourself from anxiety, or are you doomed to a lifetime of anxious thoughts?

Don’t worry, you’re not. In this article, I’m going to go over some of the best places to find good information about self help anxiety cures, and help you make anxiety a thing of the past.

There is an unbelievable wealth of information on the internet these days about anxiety and anxiety related problems and their respective solutions. So much so, that sometimes it’s hard to really know what to believe. There are how-to sites, articles like this one, health websites, and pharmaceutical websites that all seem to have conflicting information.

Some websites will tell you to eat better, sleep better, and make changes in your lifestyle, while others will tell you to take medication x or medication y to quell your anxious feelings. And still others will tell you that you need to learn how to meditate, practice NLP, or take herbal supplements.

What are you supposed to believe with all this information floating around?

This is a tough question, but from my experience, listening to what people have to say in chat forums has helped me the most out of anything. If you think about it, forums are places where the people who have tried all of the different cures talk about what worked, what didn’t, and how you can repeat their success and avoid their failures.

In my time in forums I have found that many people have actually cured themselves of their anxiety problems with self help anxiety books. If you think an anxiety book could help you, make sure you do some research and find one written by a real expert on anxiety. Or, you can take a shortcut and check out some examples of my favorite anxiety books.

Worry is something we all have, but a worry that turns into excessive fear will lead to GAD. About 4 million of American population is affected to generalize anxiety disorder every year and the number seems to be increasing. This is a sorry state for a person to be in. women are affected to this more than men are. Gad is triggered due to a lot of stress and anxiety, in this case a person always seems to be worried about money, work, family and any personal aspects. Gad is normally referred as a disease that consists of worries. It can completely turn your focus from the intended work to constant worries.

There are many major problems that Gad has on the affected person ranging from nausea, headache, impatience, sleeping problems, sweating, frequent urination and so on. This can completely throw your life off the track. Constant worries depression is what you will have. Is this what we live for? Is this the way that one should carry on his/her life? If the answer to this is no then you are required to eradicate GAD from your life. The true cause for generalized anxiety disorder has not yet been discovered but yet the main causes that add to the problems is the same old stress and anxiety. Eradicating them is very important to lead your normal life.

A tensed person is never able to give his/her productive best or at times is unable to take part in social activities. This is caused due to anxiety level that has reached a height that seems unstoppable. However you can reduce stress and anxiety right from the roots, as hypnosis is the one that can help you come out of any mind related problems. Hypnosis has the best overall reputation as far as treating a persons mind is concerned.

Hypnosis will eradicate anxiety and stress from your daily life and won’t allow it to interrupt you. This is done when your mind is taken to a subconscious state. Your stressed and anxious mind is allowed to calm down from the daily harms. Hypnosis is made available in the form of mp3; you can download the contents and start using it. This consists of a soft music that will allow you to get into a subconscious state, a place where you can allow your mind to take in all the positive aspects. Wondering how you will hypnotize yourself without the therapist? This content includes a modern hypnotizing solution. A self-hypnotizing session is what you will be taught in this all-important treatment. This means that you can conduct the sessions according to your convenience, without wasting time.

Wondering where you can get this cure (mp3). On the web, this is where you will get it. All that you are supposed to do is download the contents and start using it. Gad will no more interrupt in your life, carrying out with the routine life will be possible. So all you have to do is get one. Getting rid of Gad cannot get easier than this. So go ahead and download one for your cause. This relaxation technique will help you retain your life, the way you used to before GAD affected you.

Many critics of the so-called self help movement have tried to discredit those who share strategies and techniques that may help in living a more fulfilled life. They argue that a closer examination of those espousing self help strategies reveals that many popular “teachers” aren’t necessarily great examples of living an ideal lifestyle.

That criticism does have a certain visceral appeal. There is something comforting in being able to point at an advocate and then pointing out his or her own hypocrisy in not “practicing what is preached.” It’s easy to dismiss Tony Robbins tips of maintaining a happy marriage, for instance, by pointing out that he and his wife have divorced since the publication of his book on the subject.

It creates an “aha! I told you so” moment for critics. However, a more considerate examination of the role of self help experts reveals that these attacks actually fail to put a dent in the powerful self help message.

We can begin our analysis by going back to some of the seminal research on the subject of leadership. Weber’s early look at charismatic leadership argues that there are two different types of messengers who might aim to convey a transformative message. There are “emissary prophets” and “emulatory prophets.” Each hopes to spread the word, of course, but there is a distinct difference between the two groups.

Emissaries convey a message in hopes that others may learn from it and adopt it to improve their lives in some manner. Emulatory prophets, on the other hand Attempt to convey the message by embodying it. Whereas the emissaries want us to understand and implement the teachings, emulatory prophets want us to associate the idea with them as individuals.

This distinction is meaningful when applied to criticisms of self help instructors

Those who would dismiss a self help technique based on the messenger’s own individual fallibility seem to automatically assume that the teacher is a version of the emulatory prophet. Thus, any attack that proves them to be less than perfect of fulfilled becomes a stinging indict of the practices they share.

However, if we look at what some refer to as “self help gurus” as emissaries, those criticisms begin to become far less important. Tony Robbins inability to stay married doesn’t necessarily disprove his arguments about what constitutes a marriage, so long as he does not hold himself out to be an infallible positive proof of the recommendations, for instance. That a self help instructor hasn’t managed a perfect life doesn’t mean that the message itself is somehow deficient.

Most of those who do share self help strategies and techniques do not pretend as though they are unassailable experts who have never erred. They generally embrace their own humanness and use tales of their own shortcomings as examples when illustrating valuable points. They are acting as emissaries for a transformative message–not as emulatory prophets.

The distinction has become blurred because of the economic component associated with the self help movement. Authors and speakers do gain followings and their messages, or at least the presentation of their messages, is often carefully connected to the individual as part of the overall marketing of its economic component. Thus, a particular individual may become inextricably linked to a message in terms of public perception. It becomes easy to see a shortcoming on the part of the messenger as being proof of the self help strategy’s weakness under those circumstances.

However, realizing that the emissary of the message is not necessarily attempting to be a living idol and is instead merely offering an approach answers that indictment.

Additionally, most of those in the self help movement will willingly acknowledge that no method for self actualization is foolproof and that any individual can make mistakes that might temporarily derail his or her efforts at fulfillment. Life is complicated and its road is invariably riddled with potholes and bumps. To expect perfection from anyone is to misunderstand the nature of the human condition.

Instead of dismissing self help methods based on the presenter’s personal life, consider the advocated strategy’s logical basis and possibilities. This provides one with a far more accurate and fair way of assessing a self help plan’s chance at creating a positive change.

Overeating can be a root cause for many serious health problems such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure etc. People who overeat do not do so intentionally but their addiction to food makes them do so. If you are not able to control your temptation when you see some food, even if you are not hungry, it may lead to overeating.

Many people overeat occasionally which may cause indigestion, bowel disturbance and stomach distension. When you happen to overeat regularly you become a compulsive eater which puts you at severe risk of serious diseases. In a bid to stop overeating, you can take many precautions and help but it has been established that `self-help to stop overeating` may be an efficient treatment therapy for this problem.

The diseases associated with overeating are caused due to excessive intake of calories which turns into fat and is stored in the body. This accumulation of fat in the body makes a man obese and this leads to further health complications. An obese person is said to have an addiction for eating and this addiction is considered even more serious to recover as you cannot leave it totally, and you have to continue eating in order to survive.

Before trying to treat your overeating addiction, you have to first realize the reason behind your overeating. The root of most of the overeating problems is habit or addiction and an overeater often uses food as a medication for various issues just as an alcoholic uses alcohol. Food is being used to deal with depression, anxiety and stress.

Trying to stop overeating is not an easy task. The first step towards this is changing your food habits and adapting healthier food choices which have lower calorie count and which gives you a feeling of full stomach for a longer and enhanced period of time. Taking smaller amount of food in one sitting can help you cut on overeating. Eating slowly, chewing each bite properly and cutting on snacks in between meals are the introductory steps towards self help to stop overeating. You should wait till your previous intake of food has been completely digested before taking another intake of food.

Treatment therapies similar to those which are exercised with other type of addictions are also available for overeaters. However, the stepping stone in this direction is to establish the root cause behind your overeating habits. Counseling with therapists, doctors and self hypnosis can lead to the direction towards control of your overeating habit.

Listening to recordings of Self Hypnosis from experienced therapists in the field can help you re-pattern your eating habit and guide you to a state of deep relaxation where you can judge you eating habits by yourself and change your overeating habit. Self hypnosis influences the unconscious human mind and helps you adopt ideas for changing of your eating pattern and moving towards a fitter and healthier life.

Before using a self hypnosis recording you must also spend some time deciding upon which self hypnosis recording is best for you and you must also check that the recording has been done by trained hypnosis specialists. You should opt for a recording with full money back guarantee in case you find that the recording is not meant for you. Listening to these hypnosis recordings can be one of the best self help to stop overeating that is available in today`s society. Once you are able to establish a natural relationship with your food, you are sure to stop overeating.

As a writer and editor for an online self-help, personal-development and self-improvement superstore, I am frequently called upon to review the latest self-help products. Consequently, you’d think I would be perfectly positioned and eminently qualified to tell you which is the best self-help product.

You’d think. I mean, how hard can it be to pick out the best self-help product?

Well, it isn’t as simple as that.

I can, without a moment’s hesitation, tell you which is the top self-help DVD or top self-help book. That’s a different matter. The top self-help product is the one which is currently out-selling all others. You can pop along to Amazon’s self-help category and find out which is their best-selling product for yourself. But you don’t want to know what the best-selling self-help product is. No, you want to know what the best self-help product is.

Now this next bit is going to sound a little glib, but bear with me.

The best self-help product is the one that works for you.

See, I told you the answer was going to sound a little glib.

Unfortunately, it’s true. The best self-help product is the one which suits you, the one which you’re comfortable with, the one that fits you like a glove. If we take this tailoring metaphor a step further: the only way to find the best self-help product for you, is to try each product on for size. Just as with clothing, you can’t make your purchase on the basis of what someone else says. You have to give it a try first, check yourself out in the mirror in your mind’s eye, so to speak. The only thing somebody else can tell you is what is the best self-help product for them, not what is the ideal product for you.

So, forgive me if I sound a little glib, but the best self-help product really is the one that works for you.

Go on, try a few on for size. When you’ve got the right product for you, you’ll know.

It will just feel right.

There are a number of Fibromyalgia self help strategies that sufferers may implement in order to relieve their pain. The following is a list of 6 common strategies that may help improve pain due to Fibromyalgia.

1. Exercise is one of the easiest and most helpful pain relief strategies for fibromyalgia sufferers. In addition to keeping you fit and trim, exercise also decreases recovery time in case of an injury. A regular low impact exercise routine can help normalize sleep patterns and assists with healthy blood flow
throughout the body. You should always consult a physician before beginning any exercise routine.

2. A healthy diet in combination with regular exercise is also a useful Fibromyalgia self help strategy which can help to relieve pain and improve overall health. A low carbohydrate and high protein diet that reduces your intake of caffeine, alcohol, saturated fat, and refined white sugar can lower the occurrence of common triggers.

3. Meditation is an ancient practice, which even today offers a variety of health benefits. Stress is one of the major triggers for Fibromyalgia symptoms, and meditation can be an affective Fibromyalgia self help strategy by contributing to the relief of stress. Meditation is usually practiced in a quiet, relaxing and private place. The practice can boost confidence by giving a sense of control over the disease and the pain.

4. Topical pain relief medication, or pain relief rubs can bring temporary pain relief to sufferers. A435, Bengay, and a number of other topical rubs are available over the counter, as are various natural and homeopathic creams with the same purpose.

5. Heating pads are available in an array of different types. Electric, cordless, gel, and chemical heating pads as well as “magic bags” are a few available options.
6. Deep tissue massage works in a similar way to a heating pad, but stimulates deeper muscles and therefore may offer greater relief.

There must be hundreds — if not thousands — of self-help programs and e-books available online, but can any of these resources actually help you succeed in life?

The truth is that many self-help e-books are worth while, and they can give you resources to build upon to create a better life. But they can’t create that “better life” for you. In order to succeed and create better circumstances, you must take 100% responsibility for your thoughts and behavior, as well as the results you are getting in life.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to two things: your willingness to learn, and your ability to convert the contents of these e-books and other programs into a concrete plan action to succeed in life.

Unfortunately, many people go from program to program; from e-book to e-book, constantly jumping on the “next big thing,” without taking daily action to put any of these techniques into action. And without consistent action, no self-help e-book can help you succeed in life.

As a life coach, I have been in contact with many people who could only be described as “self-help junkies.” Usually, these people are voracious readers, and have the very best of intentions to change their life for the better. The problem is that they seldom stick to any particular program. They’ll read a few the e-books here, and watch a few videos there, and try a few other programs that are similar, and in the end, they just become confused by trying to integrate so many disparate approaches to self-improvement.

The best approach to self-help (whether you are using e-books, videos or some other program) is to find a few resources that resonates strongly with you– that you feel passionate about– and a stick to them like glue. The most important aspect of this is that the program or e-book you choose is “right” for you — and that you believe strongly in it.

Belief and faith are critically important in personal development. Any program you choose to follow, no matter how popular or insightful it may be, is bound to fail if you do not personally believe in it. Belief and faith are what causes us to follow through and to take action. And without taking action, you cannot succeed in life, no matter what kind of e-book or program you are using.

And it’s worthwhile to mention that even classic books that have helped thousands of people, like “The Power of Positive Thinking,” or “The Science of Getting Rich” will not help everyone. Personal development is just that — personal. Just because someone else (or even many people) respond well to a certain program or e-book doesn’t mean that you will.

After all, making changes to help you succeed in life is all about personal responsibility. No matter what program you use, it will always be your responsibility to follow through and create the change you wish to see. Programs and e-books can only show us the way — but each of us has to “walk the walk” ourselves.

No guru, ebook author or self-help program can do that for you; to succeed in life, you must absorb the best ideas available to you, and then put them into action in your day-to-day life. After all, it’s not called “self” help for nothing.

The good news is that if you suffer from panic attacks you can use self help for panic attacks to totally eliminate all future attacks. All around the world there are millions of people who suffer various levels of panic attacks. There are wide ranges in the severity of the attacks.

Some people feel a mild physical discomfort whilst others seriously wonder if they are going to survive the attack. Their symptoms can be absolute terror, they could have a feeling of panic that goes through their body in waves and sometimes people find it hard to breathe.

Hi, my name is Cindy and I suffered from attacks for 3 years. The first attack came as a surprise and I thought I was having a heart attack. The tension in the chest and the feeling of not being able to breathe was terrifying.

My Doctor suggested a course of drugs, (he did not specify for how long) but I decide I wanted to try another approach, that drugs were going to the very last resort for me. I spent ages researching and listening to experts because I wanted to stop having attacks, I did not want to learn to live with them. Today more and more people are using self help for panic attacks and other conditions where the medical profession is not coming up with the answers.

The only way to cure panic attacks is to break the cycle of thinking about the next attack, having that attack and then thinking about the next attack. We all react to fear in different ways, but fearing an attack is the worst way to approach this problem.

The more you fear it the worse it becomes. With the support of family and friends I decided to take another approach.

I would accept that I could have a panic attack, but most importantly I would survive it and my life would go on.

This was a little harder to put in practice but it helped me to stop dwelling on the negatives and what might happen. This meant my general health improved and my high levels of stress dropped.

Taking on the challenge of expecting but not fearing another attack meant that the attacks happened less often, I was not letting attacks become my whole focus. That was a complete turn around for me. In the past that is all I did think about. Working with a person who had been through the same problem help enormously.

The best help for anxiety attacks is self help. Particularly because a critical factor in anxiety attacks is your ‘fear’ of having another one. If you can rid yourself of this fear then you can prevent further anxiety (panic) attacks. Here, you’ll discover how your fear of another anxiety attack can actually trigger one, and, how you, yourself are the only person who can eliminate that fear and prevent more anxiety attacks.

As an anxiety sufferer who has experienced the symptoms of an anxiety or panic attack, whether you are consciously aware or not, you will be worried about having another attack. And why wouldn’t you? Let us be honest, the symptoms are absolutely terrifying aren’t they? The totality of all the symptoms led you to believe you were about to die, so there’s no way that you wish to go through that again.

Now your ‘fear’ is such a powerful force that it has a real effect on your general anxiety. What happens is that your constant fear adds to your already higher-than-normal anxiety levels. By doing so your fear raises these levels even higher. They can be raised so high that the stress of a normal everyday event can then push your anxiety way beyond what your body expects.

Your unconscious mind then ‘sees’ this (quite wrongly) as a life-threatening situation and reacts as it has for thousands of years; by priming your mind and body to either fight or run away. We call this the ‘fight or flight’ response. You see, your unconscious mind can’t tell the difference between reality and non-reality. All it knows is that you’re in a highly stressed situation. It then takes no chances and assumes you are in danger.

The horrible symptoms you experience are the result of your brain very quickly organizing things to give you the best chance of survival. For example, blood is short-circuited from your stomach to your important muscle groups. Your pupils dilate to let in more light so you can see better. Breathing becomes faster for more oxygen. Your heart pumps faster to deliver the blood faster. And so on.

So I hope you can see now that the symptoms of anxiety attacks are just your body’s natural reaction to a ‘perceived’ threat. You aren’t going off your head, and, you aren’t going to die.

I know this is a lot to take in so, if you want to, please go back over what you’ve read so far. It is important to get a good grasp before we deal with your fear factor…

Okay, now let’s deal with your fear. You can see from the above that your fear is only one part of an ‘anxiety cycle’ that goes something like this >>> anxiety attack >>> fear >>> increased anxiety >>> anxiety attack >>> fear >>> increased anxiety >>> etc. Your anxiety is feeding off your fear, so that by concentrating on your anxiety alone (as drug-based meds do by trying to control your ‘mood’) you aren’t addressing the real problem, which is your ‘fear’ of having more anxiety attacks.

The key is to remove your fear factor first. This breaks your cycle of anxiety, which in turn prevents anxiety attacks, and, then makes it easier to address and ultimately cure your general anxiety.

So how do you get rid of your fear? You must take back control from your fear and diffuse it. You do this by meeting your fear face-to-face, quite literally. In basic terms you have to be prepared to have an anxiety attack! I know this goes counter to what you would think but it’s what you have to do. Instead of running away from your fear which amplifies it, you must embrace it totally and diffuse it.

As an example try this right now: make yourself have an anxiety attack. Nothing happened right? Okay, try again then. It isn’t going to happen. Why? Because you faced your fear of another attack by trying to trigger one. In doing so you dissipated your fear and so nothing happened.

This is just a small experiment, and clearly if that’s all you had to do, no one would be suffering from anxiety attacks anymore. Of course, it’s a bit more complex than that, but that gave you an idea of just how successful this can be with the proper technique, like the ‘ONE MOVE’ technique outlined below.

But even if all you’ve taken from this report is a realization that your next anxiety attack won’t harm you, then you’ll have taken a good positive step forward.

John Cielo researches and writes on self help for anxiety attacks.
