<p>There are times when we wish to do our healing work with a counselor or other professional, and there are times when self-help better meets our needs.</p>
<p>Whether you use energy work, journaling, meditation, or any other self-healing approach, there are a number of things that you can do to ensure that you achieve the most growth and healing possible, from your self-healing sessions.</p>
<p>1.) Choose a focus.</p>
<p>Begin by choosing an issue that you wish to heal.</p>
<p>If you struggle with identifying specific areas you want to focus upon, you may find it helpful to keep a small notebook with you. Whenever you notice a pattern, issue or concern that you would like to feel better about, quickly jot a note down to yourself so that you will remember it later.</p>
<p>Going through personal journals you keep &#8211; or emails you have sent to others &#8211; is another way that you can identify areas you would like to heal.</p>
<p>2.) Make your healing a priority.</p>
<p>Set aside the time &#8211; preferably regularly &#8211; where you will focus upon your healing. Write it into your schedule so that you make a commitment to setting this time aside and do not forget.</p>
<p>Alternatively, build self-healing work into your day: a 15 minute healing session in the morning when you first wake up, at the end of the day, or at any other time that feels right to you, can be a wonderful way to get yourself moving forward and feeling better.</p>
<p>3.) Give yourself the time and space you need.</p>
<p>One of the reasons that people often find that they get more out of healing sessions guided by a professional is simply that they focus much more deeply during those sessions. This is partially because a space is created in which outside distractions are not permitted.</p>
<p>Whether you choose to set aside an hour or a smaller amount of time, create a comfortable space in which to do your self-healing work. Find somewhere that you can sit or lie down comfortably. Make an effort to minimize distractions &#8211; turn the phone, television or computer off, and ensure that you have the time that you need to accomplish the personal work you would like to get done.</p>
<p>4.) Have everything you need, close at hand.</p>
<p>This may include Kleenex, a glass of water, a warm soft blanket, or pen and paper to write down thoughts or insights that come up during the process that you wish to address or make note of.</p>
<p>Have any healing resources that you have found to be beneficial nearby. If you have a self-help book or journal you find to be particularly helpful, you may want to refer to it. Pictures of loved ones or of peaceful scenes of times and places that you felt loved and safe, may also be beneficial.</p>
<p>5.) Plan to do something nurturing afterwards.</p>
<p>Part of healing involves experiencing greater love and compassion for oneself. You can begin to put this in motion both during and immediately after your healing session.</p>
<p>This is particularly important if you have chosen to focus upon healing something that feels &#8220;big&#8221; or particularly painful. In all likelihood if you stick with the process, you will feel much calmer, better, and more peaceful than you would have thought possible prior to the healing session beginning.</p>
<p>However, the biggest obstacle that people sometimes find with self-healing work is that if they start to feel upset, they may suddenly decide to stop the process. They suddenly find themselves distracted, or they decide the issue is &#8220;too big&#8221; to tackle alone.</p>
<p>If the issue is too big, seek professional support as needed. However, in most cases simply taking a moment and reassuring yourself, using any self-help skills you have found particularly helpful, and focusing upon your breathing while thinking comforting thoughts or using helpful imagery, will help you to quickly move past the current upset.</p>
<p>Let yourself know that if upset is encountered, you can handle it and move through it gently. Make the decision and commitment to yourself to do this, so that this moment will be the last time that this incident, issue or experience, feels so upsetting to you.</p>
<p>You owe yourself the greater peace that you will feel if you stay on track with the process. It can be easier to stick with a self-healing session if you are aware that you will be taking really good care of yourself afterwards &#8211; whether this is by going for a walk, calling a friend, reading a comforting book, or watching a favourite TV show or movie.</p>
<p>6.) Be kind to yourself.</p>
<p>In the absence of a supportive professional, be a support to yourself. If you booked a session with a therapist and during it she or he criticized you or gave you negative messages about your past or present difficulties &#8211; or your likelihood to heal from them &#8211; would you feel helped by that? Would you be interested in going back to do more work with them again? Not likely!</p>
<p>During your healing process, treat yourself the way that you would expect or want a friend, counselor, or therapist to treat you. Practice seeing yourself with compassion and understanding.</p>
<p>7.) If you can not &#8211; or will not &#8211; set aside specific periods of time to work on self-healing, take full advantage of any hidden moments that you do have.</p>
<p>Not every self-healing session needs to be done with the level of detail and care that is described above. Significant, profound healing can occur simply while going for a walk and focusing upon healing thoughts, affirmations and imagery.</p>
<p>Making it a habit to give yourself loving and compassionate messages on a regular basis, as you go about your day, can go a long way towards altering your overall outlook and emotional state.</p>
<p>8.) Know your limitations.</p>
<p>If it feels unsafe to you to process a particular personal issue on your own &#8211; or if you are currently feeling completely overwhelmed or unable to cope in general &#8211; it may be a greater act of self-help to make the decision to ask for assistance with your personal healing work. This help may come in the form of a trusted and supportive friend, support group, or skilled professional.</p>
<p>Know that there is a middle ground between going it entirely alone and being &#8220;in therapy&#8221;. You can choose to do mostly self-healing if that feels right to you, and still seek professional assistance occasionally, whether this is once a month, a few times each year, or simply as a one time session.</p>
<p>Even those people who enjoy the benefit of regular counseling or therapy sessions will get the most value and benefit from that work, and will they further accelerate their progress and healing by working on their concerns between professionally facilitated sessions.</p>

<p>We often get too busy with day-to-day tasks  to fit in a few minutes for exercise. We don&#8217;t do enough, in those  mundane chores, to burn all the excess calories we get from fast food,  and junk food, that we eat.</p>

<p>But our  willpower melts, and we get back into the same old rut; but it&#8217;s even  worse than that. We start feeling guilty because we cheated on our diet,  which leads to eating more &#8220;comfort food;&#8221; like ice cream and cake.</p>

<p>Shyness, also known as social anxiety, is a burden to your social life.</p>
<p>Children and adults alike face this problem no matter which economic status they belong to.</p>
<p>Though many self-help materials are available, sometimes it just does not seem to assist you much in alleviating your phobia. Some people complain that there are no results even if they follow some procedure step by step. This happens because of some reasons. But first, what is self help?</p>
<p>Self help is literally helping yourself without asking for anyone to assist you. Self help is used widely among psychological circles &#8211; the same process is applied in different situations.</p>
<p>Disdaining or disregarding self-help is not going to help conquer your fear or social phobia. This must always be the first step. Who else would help you first, but yourself? This is always the most effective of all help provided because in any manner you may start it just by yourself in everyday and common actions.</p>
<p>Just like starting up a conversation with simple greetings such as hi or hello everyday may lead you to longer and simple conversations that need not delve into serious matters. This will help you practice self confidence and boost your self esteem (particularly when you do more than small talk eventually). <p>Going through self help, though, is not enough for everyone. It matters on how serious the phobia has become in the person. You may rely on self help because it is one step in defeating social anxiety, but having reinforcement from other people is not bad either. Seeking help is normal if your social anxiety gets out of control.</p>
<p>There are a few reasons why self help fails to help a person in a certain situation. One reason is too much anxiety may lead you to loss of words even with adequate preparation, or even if you are knowledgeable about a topic.</p>
<p>Another reason is, even if you are knowledgeable about the topic being discussed, you may feel it is unpleasant to discuss and you feel discomfort again.</p>
<p>An additional factor is giving up altogether. No matter how prepared you are for a discussion and how you apply what you know, yet somehow it may not seem to work out the way you expect. So, you start to feel like a failure and give up. Remember then that there is no failure in interacting with people. It just sometimes produces a different scenario from what you expect.</p>
<p>Lastly, you might even know all the details of a topic, yet you are not motivated enough to integrate them into the conversation. Keeping your knowledge to yourself will just make matters worse. Your courage must be developed little by little so start with even the slightest conversations.</p>
<p>There are people who may help you understand and conquer your phobia, such as a family member, a friend, a loved on or a professional. But start within your self to uncover the courage you need to make shyness help work for your own social anxiety.</p>

<p>Where  modern medicine provides treatment, it is by trying to reverse the  process once it has reached a point of detection, which is often quite  an advanced stage. An earlier solution, however, would be to increase  our awareness of our body generally throughout our lives. By doing this,  we could prevent &#8211; or at least inhibit &#8211; the build up of the disease  process. It is like letting a little sunlight in, the sunlight of  awareness.</p>
<p>When you meditate you&#8217;re not exactly aware of arteries  narrowing or cells abnormally proliferating, but you become more aware  of the feelings, motions and pains in your body generally and in a  non-specific sense. This very experience of awareness keeps the  diversity of systems within the body out in the open, shielding them  from the darkness that enables illness to, all too commonly, lurk and  even flourish.</p>
<p>This does not mean, of course, that we will ever  arrive at a place where we avoid becoming ill at all. Illness is an  inevitable part of life. What it does mean, however, is that meditation  enables us to stay in the light for longer.</p>

<p>Happiness comes when we choose to start living and stop worrying.  We all have dreams in our lives and we all want our dreams to become  reality. We must have the potential to change life for the better and  make a positive difference in it. This trait provides an individual a  powerful boost to drive him to do the things he intends to accomplish.  We need to be adaptable and have to be accurate and consciously decide  on goal prioritization. In other words a person needs to be  self-disciplined and optimize its driving force with the right will  power determining his character and his firmness in focusing on what  lies ahead.</p>
<p>Every variance in the normal way of life gets a lot of  introspection, giving rise to self doubt and ultimately avoidance and  ignorance seems to be the best choice. However, sooner or later we get  depressed and disheartened, always being stuck on a rut. We have to  reduce these self-doubts in order to move ahead and to bounce back from  such setbacks. We will always be timid, apprehensive and hesitant if do  not dare to move ahead by turning disciplined, optimistic, confident,  agile, dedicated and pro-active. Everyone in life faces hurdles,  obstacles and hitches in life. The answer to eradicate all these  problems is Self- Help. People who believe in self-help succeed to  accept their present situations and foster strength and will power to  achieve set goals. Self help means being smart, measurable, actionable,  rational and time-oriented.</p>
<p>Smart mindset involves a lot of  sensitivity, decision making, and significant judgment. Daring to be  different in a responsible and positive way is a never-ending thinking  process to get ahead of the crowd. It shows path to produce more  efficient and effective results and extracting time to grow to be more  dynamic and constructive.</p>
<p>A career must be built where we are  truly passionate about. The endeavors must be measurable and calculated  and specific, consciously according to our genuine standards. To avoid  mistakes, errors and repetition, measured action is needed; one must not  jump to vague conclusions or judgment. We must make sure that whatever  we do, it&#8217;s backed by a solid foundation of facts and a process that  includes a thorough research, and then must reach to a decision.</p>
<p>Strength  and the conviction inside us must be felt, despite the consequences and  must target our attention to taking action. . Action must be taken on  ideas helpful to reach goal and try not to dump them as implausible.  Action gives a spark of enthusiasm and zeal to keep trying even after  experiencing hard-hitting challenges and setbacks.</p>
<p>To control  dysfunctional emotions, like feeling of inadequacy, experience distress,  worrying about criticism,   one must not keep dwelling on the negative  consequences of a particular performance but think rationally and be  determined to use the emotional energy more productively. Rational  approach often helps in eradicating blocked self-defeating thoughts.  Reasonable and logical thinking acknowledge lacks and keep us on the  watch for new knowledge to improve our effectiveness.</p>
<p>We must  master our time usage and become extremely productive, where-in  rock-bottom personal productivity is simply accepted as normal. A  considerable amount of time must be spent, reviewing our caliber to  perform an activity, and exploring other potentials which are more  accurate and completed on time.</p>
<p>A man must posses the ever-  important quality of self-belief before performing any activity aiming  to reach goal. Every person has ample capacity and caliber to do  wonders, a little of self doubt reduces the confidence to do it. All  dreams and high aspirations can be achieved, if doubt and dilemma is not  allowed to creep in. After deciding on what we want, in a clear and  firm manner, we have no other choice, but to equip ourselves with  self-discipline and self- help and a strong and positive attitude to win  and succeed.</p>
