Start Goal Setting Your Way Towards Your Dream Life!..

Goal setting, when done properly, greatly enhances your chances of achieving in life! Believe me, I’ve had to learn this the hard way, Mr Practical should have been my middle name…

Why?…

Because I’ve always instinctively tried my damned hardest to avoid any form of theory. Sometimes, just saying the word theory used to be enough to send me to slumberland!…

It’s true, that’s how reluctant I am about theory. However…

THE ‘LONGER ROUTE’ IS OFTEN THE SHORTER ROUTE!

Throughout my life, when I’ve been faced with something I really want to achieve, I’ve always had the practical, JUST DO IT, mentality! As a result, in hindsight, I realised that the final outcome was very much predictable. This is typically what would happen…

I would have this thing that I want, or need, to achieve and then I start thinking, I can do this without setting goals, even though I know I should. Besides, I can do it much quicker if I JUST DO IT!”. Everything goes great until I’m hit with a problem. Here’s what ALWAYS happens…

I’d become very frustrated, bored and confused, resulting in one of these two things happening!…

1) I give up and look back at it and feel like a complete and utter LOSER, or…

2) I end up setting goals after all, and feel like a complete and utter LOSER for not doing it in the first place!

On top of all that, I’d feel like an even bigger LOSER when I realise that the ‘shortcut’ really was the longer route, in disguise. What seemed like a bad idea (i.e goal setting), by this stage started to make perfect sense. You know what? I actually feel like a loser just telling you about this…

Now be honest, have you done this, too? Don’t be afraid to admit it, you’re in ‘safe’ company. Besides, it will help me to feel better about myself!…

WHY SET GOALS?

I can’t stress enough the IMPORTANCE of setting goals. It’s that important, I think I’ll say it again…

There’s no if’s or but’s about it, goal setting is incredibly important!

I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but we ALL are unconsciously goal setting each and every day. For example…

You plan on getting to work before 9 o’clock. That’s a form of goal setting…

You want to go shopping on Friday… that’s goal setting…

You decide you want to lose 7lbs. That’s more goal setting…

Do you get my drift?…

The real ‘kick-but’ goal setting I’m referring to for living your dream life, obviously is a bit more sophisticated then that example – OK a LOT more! You see, goal setting has a very interesting psychological side effect. For example…

Imagine being in debt, let’s say of about 100k, and let’s also say that it MUST be repaid in 12 months or your home will be repossessed! Now, your not rich, in fact, you’re flat broke, SUPER BROKE, even!…

What on earth are you going to do? Maybe emigrate, probably the sooner the BETTER!…

JUST JOKING! But seriously though…

Just out of curiosity, would you have? Either way, considering the fact that you’re strapped for cash, wondering “How is it possible I can pay back this sort of money, let alone in 12 moths” is very likely. The funny thing is, in the right context, that’s not a bad thought to have. Here’s why…

You see, when you ask yourself this kind of question, it’s almost like switching your brain on and instructing it to start goal setting, in order to solve this 100k problem!…

But, it’s important that the question is asked in an open, ‘believe I can do this’, mind set!… Otherwise… FORGET IT!

Improve Dream Recall For Enhanced Creativity, Healing, Problem-Solving, Adventure And Much More

The main barrier to recalling and benefiting from dreams is that waking and dreaming memory aren’t connected nearly as well as they could be with greater intention, practice and focus. Making a relatively consistent effort to remember and especially to record your dreams will help your waking mind align and integrate your dream experience. It’s also an excellent way to increase imagination and intuitive capabilities which are both intimately connected with dreams. This alone should provide strong incentive.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO WANT IT:

First and foremost, you must feel that it will be useful to you, if not extremely valuable. Without this intention, motivation will soon disappear. More importantly, the desire acts as a subjective magnet which draws your dreams into memory.

FOCUS and ATTENTION:

Understand that dream recall is an inherent, natural human trait. That is why young children are quite in touch with their dreams, as are many native cultures, some of which even share their dreams with each other daily and base important life actions upon guidance they receive. Dream recall is like a mental muscle – the more you use it, the stronger it becomes. Without exercise it may shrink, but it is there if you decide to work it out again. So if your recall is poor, trust that it will come in time, and the trust itself will actually help since expectation is a powerful subjective tool.

BEDTIME PRACTICE:

Before sleep, reread your dreams from the night (or more) before. This allows you to begin to connect with your dream memory, and is also an opportunity to interpret your dreams and spot connections to the day’s events. Then, as you go to bed, clearly request (rather than command) yourself to remember any dreams when you awaken in the morning or during the night, especially ones that would be beneficial to you. Also remind yourself that it’s a simple, natural process that happens by itself anyway. You can also suggest to yourself to spontaneously awaken when you need to without using an alarm, since any strong external perception such as a loud noise can inhibit recall. This method works well with practice, but you may initially wish to set your alarm for 15 minutes after your suggested wake-up time, just to be safe. Whenever you awaken, keep your eyes closed (or shut them if already open) and remain as motionless as possible. If you moved since waking, return to your earlier body position. Gather as many images, impressions, feelings, or body sensations or waking thoughts as you can. A helpful technique is to think of it like fishing. Gently, cast out your intention to remember a dream, and wait a little to see what comes. As soon as you get anything, no matter how brief or vague they may at first seem, rise and immediately record (or write, draw, paint, etc.) it in a journal or speak into a tape recorder (which you keep bedside). You’ll be surprised at how much more you remember as you begin writing/speaking/drawing/painting/etc.

BE PLAYFUL, PATIENT, and PERSISTENT:

Although most people start having success the first week or two, dream recall is a mental muscle which may require some time to get back into shape. Try to maintain a relaxed and playful attitude of looking forward to your dreams while being willing to let them come all in good time. Trying too hard or being too serious can be limiting factors. Dream recall and motivation tend to come and go naturally in cycles and also depend upon what else is going on in your life, and on how much sleep you get, how much you exercise, etc.. Once you begin a period of focusing on recall, stick with it for at least a few days, because consecutive nights can have an additive effect.

Effective Planning And Goal Setting Can Help You Achieve Any Dream

For everyone, to get any type of success in life, goal setting is very important and what is even more important is the fact that you stick to those goals which are essential to achieve the hopes and dreams connected with it.

A good and organized plan of action is the first major step towards successful goal setting. For example, someone who wishes to earn more money can do an additional job while he is at home after full day in office. In this way, he can earn more money while working from home and also spend his time creatively which he earlier was spending by watching television and browsing internet uselessly. This is the simplest example of positive and resourceful goal setting.

A realistic plan is also very important thing while setting up a goal. Like, it would be very unwise if someone says that he wants to save enough to become a billionaire without even knowing how much to earn, how much to spend and then, how much to save. There is no wrong point of thinking big and striving for them but the important thing is that the goals should be within reach otherwise that condition might result in depressive state of mind. So, in order to evade the negative impact of failure of achieving your goals, practicality and setting goals that are within reach is a must thing while setting up goals.

Once you have got your goals set, it is very important to stay focused at it all the time. Actually, it means to be very careful with your funds if suppose your goal involves finances and capital. A prime example is that someone saves a down payment of his home and gets a brand new sports car that catches attention of everybody on the road. A person who is focused on buying a new home with that saved money will feel more contented than one who buys a new car from same money hastily just to calm down his enticement. After some time, this will definitely result in remorse for the car buyer.

Setting up of goals is a very important part of our lives right from the beginning. Whether in some school assignment, holiday homework that needs to be finished in a week, some project or venture work that has to be finished by the end of the day or any financial goal or plan that needs to be accomplished, effective planning and goal setting will definitely help you conclude even the hardest and the most challenging tasks within the prescribed deadlines with great ease and effortlessness.

Goal Setting: Dream Or Goal, What Comes First?

“Are you equating dreams with goals or do you set goals to get to your dream?” A friend asked me this question recently.

That is a good question. I have known some dynamic clients who are stubborn and never give up. They definitely dream and have a vision. In order to help you identify the difference between a dream, vision, and a goal, listed below are 8 steps to take to achieve your goals.

1. Dream or visualize your goal.

Here are some ways dreaming and visualization work: 1) Entrepreneurs can dream and visualize their goals, 2) Corporate goals generally begin with visualization and they can see the end result of their project and know what it will look like, and 3) Personal goals can be all of the above. For example, if the individual wants a Ferrari he will begin thinking about the car, then dreaming about it such as its color, model, fun to drive, etc. If the person is asked to do a project he will visualize a plan of action to finish the project. There was no dream involved as someone else created the concept.

2. Have a solid, clear picture in your mind of your goal.

Before you can write down a plan of action you should be able to visualize the end result in your mind and then it makes it easier to set up a plan to achieve the goal. It is easier to accomplish if you have a solid picture of it in your mind.

3. Develop your goal/plan.

You nurture the dream until it has real meaning for you. For example for me I had a dream to have a Writers’ Retreat in the Sonoma County Wine Country. Up to this point there was nothing, no plan in place and no specific people in mind. Then I began dreaming. I could visualize 10 writers sitting in the conference room creating their writing plan. I SAW the redwood trees, rustic cottages, and people mingling outside in the garden. It was an awesome visualization and dream. I even created a Visualization Board.

4. Set up a date (target date) to complete your goal.

Decide on a date to achieve your goal. Give yourself as much time as you feel is needed to accomplish your goal.

5. Write down a plan of action based on your target date.

It’s the baby steps it takes to finish the goal. Identify each task needed to complete your goal. It could be phone calling, sending out notices, marketing, Teleseminars, finding a hotel for your event, research, etc. You may have to adjust the target date if the tasks involved will take more time than anticipated. If your goal will take more than six months it is recommended that you have sub-goals that you can finish every quarter so it makes is easier to finish your goal and you won’t lose interest.

6. If you missed your goal, reset the target date and continue until you reach your goal.

Most important: As long as you still believe in the goal you keep on going and never give up. You need to feel PASSION for your dream or it will be difficult to finish. One client who sets 100 goals a year and accomplishes 90% of them told me that she just couldn’t stop. She is obsessed with completing her goals, however she calls them dreams. She is driven. How about you?

7. Find a mentor or buddy that will support you.

This can give you the boost you need in the tough times and be your motivator to help keep you going. Goal setting is not for the timid. A lot of work is involved. A huge commitment is needed on your part. Ignore the naysayer and find those positive people in your life that believe in you and will help you stay focused.

8. Take action and follow your plan.

There is only one person that can complete your goal, YOU! You must take action, overcome obstacles, and follow through on all your action steps. YOU are the Action Task Achiever, only YOU can make your dreams come true. That’s what I like about my dynamic clients. I give them the information they need and they do it! They are motivated. Do you have the passion for your dream? Can you visualize your goal? Do you have a buddy? Are you ready to create a plan of action? If you answered yes, to these questions then congratulations you are ready. Have fun and enjoy the journey.

Live The American Dream By Goal Setting

What is the essence of the American Dream? Is it still valid? And what has goal setting got to do with the American Dream? The American Dream stands for something, an important principle, and one which we will take a look at in this article.

The American Dream, personified by the statue of Liberty. But, what is that American Dream? It stands for freedom, but what kind of freedom, and how do we find it?

In today’s society, we find that freedom, and liberty can be words that seem foreign to us. We have relative freedom; we have a car, a home, etc. However, we can easily lose sight of just how much – even kings and queens would have valued some of what we have today.

So, is that American Dream dead? Not at all, because, even in today’s western society, we can find ourselves lacking a certain level of freedom. We have desires, and want things. We want to do, be, and have things. These in themselves are goals. And here is where goal setting and that big dream come to play.

America houses great opportunity and that opportunity has spread all around the world. Here the dream begins, because today, though the element of freedom is pretty much commonplace in the US and other countries, we still can find ourselves in a position where we are thirsty for more out of life.

Even though money is not everything, we can only do things in society with money, and possessions. To have a goal to get a good education, this goal alone is not possible without the adequate money.

Now, here is where things get interesting, because we can see that goal setting and that big American Dream go hand in hand. For hundreds of years, the US has been a place where people could go to, to find opportunity, seize them, and reach their goals.

Goal setting is an important principle, as it allows us to focus on what we want. We think about what we want, and go about achieving them. For example, the car would not be there, as it is today, if Henry Ford did not set goals, and go forward to there achievement. Likewise that education people seek, would not be possible, if the founders of that place of learning was not built.

Goals are what build societies, and as more people partake in them, we have richer societies. As people set goals, there is no need to be stuck in the dead end job, because people can go forward to reach there goals. And there is nothing like setting your own destination.
