Vision Board for Teens Self Esteem Issues And Challenges

Self-esteem and confidence can go a long way during your teenage years and beyond. The question is how can this be accomplished? The answer is many faceted and it starts with the family/teachers/roll models, as these are the areas that are most active in a child’s life during the formative years. So this is where self-esteem gets its basis and roots for the teenager and beyond years.

Teen self-esteem is quite fragile; just having a feeling of being left out, or seeing themselves as weird, or to have feelings they can’t seem to make or keep friends, or they feel like they aren’t much of an athlete, or could have some learning problems, or just feels significantly different from their peers; whatever the situation they feel they have, it is real to them and contributes to how they see themselves and then this is how they view and feel their self-esteem.

Visualization has been around for years and been very active in the adult population and now it is being introduced into the teen and adolescent community as a powerful tool to assist them through their years of transition into adulthood.

Sometimes it is difficult to get the teens attention and get them to do productive habits to better their lives and perspective on life. One thing that grabs their attention is action formats; hence, Vision Map Videos, which have the action, the pictures, the positive affirmations and the music. These can be made to the persons individual wants, needs, music, images that they can individually relate to, and they will find them empowering and entertaining at the same time.

Vision boards have been around forever, and they are also a great tool, however, there is a real process to cutting out the images etc.; and then getting a teenager to visualize and concentrate on the board everyday, it takes a very motivated teenager to do and want to do this on a regular basis. But with the Vision Map Video the music can be their favorite kind, it can be pictures that interest them and affirmations that motivate them, so they will find it fun to watch this on a regular basis and when they find how good it makes them feel, it will be a fun task. Also they can watch it on any of their electronic devises and in privacy, only their eyes to see; not a board that is out for everyone to see.

There are so many in the teen population that have challenging issues, who could have been abused, teased and put down, mentally, emotionally, physically hurt; they deserve the chance to believe in themselves and to develop a sense of self confidence; self respect and self worth. It is so great that a tool has been made available that can break through all those attitudes, fears, barriers, resistance and help them to tell and feel a new story to build their self-esteem.

It is our responsibility as parents/teachers/religious sectors/roll models to assist the teens to be all they can be and to use all the powerful tools that are out there to assist them to change the way they think, feel and behave. It is a challenge growing up and with all the peer pressure, possible self-doubt, feelings of low self worth and humiliation that can dominate our teens’ thoughts it is our job to give them all the tools we can to assist an easier transition into adulthood.

Some teens spend the majority of their day trying to be accepted. What if there were a way you could help your teen improve self-esteem and feel good about who they are, and the best part accomplish this in a fun and entertaining way, find and research these fun and effective ways to better a teens life.

Develop Your Vision Statement

Here’s an exercise for you that could reap some nice rewards. Gather a group, personal friends or business associates. Write on a piece of paper or white board a focus for the meeting such as developing a vision statement for college, a job or reaching your business goals comfortably.

Each member should answer questions from a group perspective. They discuss their answers with one another, coming to an agreement. They then write down the group response.

“Members need to provide honest and complete answers to a series of questions that relate to you or your business future” states author Don Midgett of Mission and Vision Statements: Your Path to a Successful Business Future. “These exercise questions can be used in any effort or circumstance for understanding what you desire to accomplish.”

1. What would you or your business like to become or develop into over the next three to five years?

Vision is a declaration of a desired future – no wonder many colleges are asking for mission statements and vision statements on applications!

Vision also has to be agreed upon with business colleagues by clear communication.  It is the communication on this vision statement that will allow you to determine and reach the goals that will carry you to the vision.

2. What makes you or your business unique or distinctive?

Consider both personal and business beliefs and values. How do you hold the vision?

“The answers soon reveal themselves as to who you are and how you will manifest the vision whether in your personal or business life” Midgett writes.

3. What excellence or special expertise do you or your business offer?

Always work or manage out of a sense of vision, not out of a sense of desperation or someone else’s fears.

4. In your personal or business future, the measure of success is __________________.

Select words and phrases that have meaning for you and your group, make a list of them and then work them into a visionary sentence or two to develop your personal vision statement.  Continue to read the statement for a few weeks, daily, and make the changes that you will want, as you re-read it every day.

The benefit of this exercise is that you will soon approach many decisions in your personal or business life with confidence that you are in alignment with your real ideas on success and your desired future.

Daydreaming Verses Vision Creation – Which Goal Setting Method Transforms To Reality?

It’s another long day, but much is not happening. Your mind drifts and you think about sunny beaches, and the cool breeze. Though this feels great this idea unfortunately will very likely never happen.

Ask a lot of people what they want and you will often hear materialistic desires of ‘I want a yacht’, ‘I want my dream home’, etc. Though many people never get these things, why? All through life we often hear we have potential, but for many that potential is never seen.

Potential means exactly that, potential. Like there is some big power there, but it is in resting state. Kind of like a person sleeping or even a car just sitting there. The needed part is breaking out and utilizing that machinery. Whether a human or a vehicle, you must simply get up and go!

Goal setting comes to our attention, and for those that really don’t understand they would tend to think we are talking about New Year resolutions! No, not that time of year! Goal setting is about consciously deciding what you want. And daydreaming simply does not cut the mustard.

So, what is the difference between daydreaming and vision creating? And how does all of this mix in with goal setting, to the end of getting a result you want? These questions are important ones, and it is great to understand them. After all, clarity is power.

Setting goals is one of the first steps to goal achievement. Achieving a goal needs you to know what you want. One method of peering into that is via a vision. A vision can help focus your mind, and is very real.

There is a place, a space that when you create your vision, you are actually putting that vision to a place to be created. In essence, placing an order so to speak, to God, higher power, the ineffable. We have looked at a daydream. A daydream is simply escaping our conscious reality. Unfortunately day dreaming is not creating anything.

A vision is when you base your desire on reality, and design life as you want it to be. Daydreaming is not really conscious, you can’t really say daydream, and you start daydreaming! However, a vision can be made in such a way.

You can look at the things you want in life, and in your mind, create a vision, which is very real. A vision is an order to the universe. You then move forward with that vision, and soon find at some point, that you are living that vision.

Vision creation and goal setting can go hand in hand. Many people will overlook this important point. In fact many goal setting programs, books, etc, totally forget or don’t know about this important process.

Creating your vision can be much better than affirmations, and also can help you think about if you truly want that thing. Doing your vision creation often and taking action is the only way to materialize your desires.

The Importance Of Vision In Goal Setting

Vision is a topic which can often be overlooked, when setting goals. Creating a vision is one of the best steps any goal setter can take. As you read this article, you will discover more about the importance of having a vision, when setting a goal.

I think it was Solomon who said ‘where there is no vision, the people perish’. This quote is something interesting to look at, as it gives us the real process of setting goals.

You see, goal setting is great. You want a car; you set the goal, and get it. You want the house, you set the goal, and then you get it. This is all good; however, a piece of the puzzle is missing.

Getting the puzzle together is an easy process, when we add to the equation a vision. But, what is a vision? And how do you find your vision?

The only way to create a vision is to first know what you want. This is a great point, because any adult generally has tasted enough of life, to know the things you like. From here you can make that as a starting point.

Your vision doesn’t stop with the car, the house, the vacation, etc. It goes further and thinks about how your life will be. This makes your vision needing a kind of 360 degree view of what you want out of life.

From your lifestyle, to the things you own, right down to your relationships. This entire vision becomes the goal. And like a tree, which has small branches stemming from large branches, your vision will represent this tree.

Now, living that dream, we know stems from having a vision. It is the best anyone can ask for, because now, you have all your life planned out.

Now, you have direction, because you know exactly what you want. Each part has a purpose. If you have a lofty goal to own a jet, you know exactly the purpose of the jet, because it is part of your vision.

The abstract, becomes concrete details, as we can see a vision of life. Exactly how we want it to be. This can only happen with a vision, and the vision is what will drive your life and actions.

When you create such a vision, you automatically feel passionate about it. Over time, you will find that more and more parts become reality. Until one day, you find you are living that vision. And the only way to make that work is through visualization and then a system of goal setting to get your plan of action ready.
